PC Security Software Empty PC Security Software

Ok, might be putting this in the wrong place but thought I would put these out of the main section for anyone wanting to clean their PC, meant to send these to you last night Dave but forgot on the way home.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free, very good, fast and low profile antivirus software click on the link and select your version of windows, only ever gives you a problem if you have a moody version of windows but not always and if you do drop me a pm and I can sort it for you. (Works from XP to windows 7) Oh and I would recommend this over ANY AND ALL subscription anti viruses, including Norton, AVG, Kasper and any others.

Spywareblaster - Works more like a shield than an active anti spyware programme - all you have to do is update about once a week (sometimes they only have a few incremental updates) select "Download latest protection updates" then select Enable All Protection" - Job done, close and update again in a week.

Spyware Blaster - Has a section like spywareblaster where you can "Immunize" your system but the power in this one is in its scanner, when you go through the installation just remember to un-tick a section about something called "Tea timer" it’s a pain in the arse sometimes, won’t harm anything but it gets bloody annoying. - Update, Immunize, Scan - Fix problems (if it detects any)

C-Cleaner - Handy tool for cleaning internet caches & your system registry - I use it after applying updates or removing software to clean the registry.

Ad-Aware - Powerful real time scanner set up to run and detect any processes that are going to damage you software - Large download (over 100meg) but worth it, updated daily. Anything trying to install itself on your pc and it will be Ad-aware and security essentials that detect and stop it straight away.

Mayware Bytes - Anti-Malware - Malware is a little different from spyware and adware, whereas later two will watch and listen to what you do, Malware will try and force your software to do something, like install itself in the browser and get you to go somewhere more dame can be done. - Take a quick look on your PC either in your programme list or maybe in your browser toolbars... Got anything called "MYWEBSEARCH" Then that’s malware and should be removed (spybot will also pick this up but not as aggressively as malwarebytes)

Peerblocker - This one is for the tinfoil hat wearing ones amongst us PC Security Software 1984-movie-big-brother
Will block peer connections to your machine that you don’t want - useful if you use torrent clients or want additional software to block peer heavy websites from connecting to your ports.

All the above software are free ones and bloody good ones, if anyone has any problems installing or running them let me know and I will get back to you.

    Oh, and -

Firefox Far better browser IMO than IE7 or IE8, much faster and secure, just a matter of getting used to the few changes. If you install it watch how much faster it is just opening the same page between it and IE

Uniblue spy eraser, really good too and I use AVG free. Does what it needs to do, nothing more, nothing less.
